Struggling to find my great grandparents

Hi,

I'm really enjoying creating my family tree but have come to a complete wall when it comes to my grandfather's parents. I simply cannot find anything prior to his birth.

My grandfathers name: FRANCIS TG THOMPSON
DoB: 5th Feb 1916 (Found on his marriage index and a birth index)
Mothers maiden name: STANLEY (this is the only info I have regarding his parents)
Place of birth: Alcester, Warwickshire

He married ALICE DOROTHY ELLIS in 1937 in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and went on to have my mother WENDY J THOMPSON and my uncle PETER F THOMPSON.

Can anyone help me trace his parents or history?

Thank you - I hadn't thought about that - I've just looked and there is a marriage of a FRANCIS W THOMPSON and STANLEY in West Bromwich in June 1919 which might be the one! Thank you! Although that would mean my grandad was born after their wedding :O

In case this is the right couple, they seems to be:

George Wilfred Thompson b 5 June 1883 - registered at birth as George Willfrid Tompson [sic] mmn Tandy, Jun qtr 1883 Bromsgrove; died aged 59, Dec qtr 1942 Bromsgrove.

Rebecca Frances Stanley b 27 April 1884 - registered at birth as Rebecca Frances Stanley mmn Petford, Jun qtr 1884 Bromsgrove; died as Frances Rebecca Thompson aged 64, Dec qtr 1948 Bromsgrove.

Thank you so much, this has been incredibly helpful. I’m going to try and find Francis TG Thompson’s birth certificate to be 100% sure, but if this info is correct - it’s opened up lots of new relatives!
