Missing Marriage & Census JOHN BUTLER

Hi All

I am having trouble finding details of John Butler b1820. I can find him in the 1861 census with his wife Eliza b1816, but that is all. I can't find them in 1851 nor can I find their marriage. They both give that they come from Salisbury. Their children were baptised in Fisherton Anger from 1846 to 1850. The only two with them are Joseph b1848 & Thomas Luke b1850. I have found two others, but at least one has a death record. John was a smith.

Look for the kids birth reg at the GRO site. (Alderbury district? )

That'll give mothersmaiden name

Then relate them here.

GRO gives MMN as Butler, there is a marriage in Wantage 1839?

That looks like the record of a licence issued by the Diocese of Salisbury - an area which covered parts of Berkshire as well as Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset.
