Wayman Family Littleport.
« on: Friday 13 September 19 22:56 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks,my GTx2 Grandfather was Elijah Wayman born I think c1838 around Ely.I think they
are in the 1841 census in Littleport so his Father appears to be James Mother Mary and sister
Sarah and it looks like possibly a workhouse. He ended up in Newcastle in the 1871 Census but
died 1878 although he seems to be registered as Edward and my Gt Grandmother had him as
such on both her marriage certs.I cant find him in the 51 census there is an Elijah Wayman in the
1861 census in the army.I have no trace of the rest of the Family at all, wondered if anyone can
help especially with Mary's maiden name.
TIA Steve.

Thanks very much folk's,I think I can assume Mary Metcalfe to be my Gtx3 Grandmother.Sorry I was a
year out with Elijah(Edward?) death. He did indeed marry Sophia Green, apart from Edward they had
son Alfred and my GT Grandmother Sarah ellen, all three children were in Industrial schools in Newcastle
in the 1881 census and Sophia is knowhere to be found. The big Mystery is with Sarah Ellen,She married William John Kirton in Gateshead in 1889 the family are in the 1891 and 1901 census including my Grandmother also Sophie, the mystery is that Sarah ellen re-married in 1908 to a Robert Woolhouse in
Newcastle age correct and on this and her previous certificate Father Edward Wayman occupation Barman
was given yet William John Kirton was still alive until 1913 although in the workhouse in 1911,also in the
1911 census Grandmothers sister Minnie was with Sarah ellen (Nellie) and Robert as a visitor.Very strange!

I think that Mary Metcalfe's sister Elizabeth was my 3xgreat grandmother. Elizabeth married William Handley in 1832.
