Chesham marriage: Puddephatt and Nash 1818
« on: Saturday 14 September 19 15:32 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I've found the following marriage 'event' between Stephen Puddephatt and Lydia Nash on ancestry but it is a text-only entry. Can anyone find a version with the picture (e.g. on findmypast?) and either send me the picture or transcribe the information?

In particular I'm interested in: name of their fathers, own occupations and occupations of fathers, name of church where married; but other details can often come in useful e.g. witnesses names etc, so please do include if possible!

Name
    Stephen Puddephatt
Gender
    Male
Event Type
    Marriage
Marriage Date
    16 Apr 1818
Marriage Place
    Chesham, Buckinghamshire, England
Spouse
    Lydia

Many thanks in advance!
Debs

I have been wondering who Lydia Nash’s parents were! Her mother was Lydia but no father named from the baptismal record quoted?
Lydia and Stephen Puddephatt had a daughter Lydia, who married Job Wright. Job and Lydia had Amelia (my great Grandmother) who  married George Newton. George and Amelia had Amelia Wright Newton who married Wilfred Curry (from Hartlepool). They had both emigrated to New Zealand around 1912 and met and married in New Zealand. Amelia and Wilfred had Bessie, Edna, Willa and James. Willa is my mother and died in 2006, aged 85. I can add more dates of these people if anyone wants them.
My question is whether the original Lydia Nash we spoke of was Jewish?  Her children nearly all had Jewish names - Esther, Abednego, Meshach, Shadrack, Eli, Lydia, Caroline, Teresa and Sophia - not necessarily in that order. Any ideas on this?

My Grandmother, Amelia Wright Newton was born and lived at Halfway House, a farmhouse that still exists about 3 km outside of Chesham on the Great Missenden road. The farm was a dairy, providing milk and milk products to the neighbouring area.
