Ullenhall Football c. 1920s
« on: Tuesday 17 September 19 15:11 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone may recognise this photo.  It was left to me by my father, born 1907, and he wrote Ullenhall FC on the back.  I think he is on it, but can't be sure as I don't have any photos of him as a young man.  Ullenhall is a village near to Stratford-upon-Avon, in Warwickshire, England.  The photo has been restored and colourised by a friend of mine.  On the bottom of the photo is a name, probably the photographer, maybe Ernest something.  I've enlarged that and posted it here too.  I'd be grateful for any information, I'd like to try to track this down if I can, thank you.

Here is a link to Ullenhall Village.

http://www.ullenhall.net/

May I suggest that you contact them and ask if they know anything about the football club.  Scroll down the page a bit to see the contact us link.

Thanks very much, I will do that.  I'd made some informal enquiries with a friend who lives in the village, but i didn't have that link.  Much appreciated!

The strip should hopefully help with a possible date if not names.

Does the name look something like Minshull/Minshall or possibly Marshall?

Regards
Roger

Thanks very much for both replies. Minshull is a name that’s not unknown in the area, I will look for a photographer of that name.

Looking at the name on the full photo rather than the clip, it looks to me like the surname ends "ley"  Maybe Ernest Marsley or similar?
