So need help - pulling my hair out.. trying to find the Mother of Alfred Jones
« on: Wednesday 18 September 19 20:11 BST (UK) »
Everything I thought and had researched for the last couple of months I now believe is all wrong.
My Grandpa
Alfred Jones born abt Aug 20 1914 -
Father Charles Jones
Mother Ellen Howard
2 Brothers
Charles & Frederick.

I can't find either Alfred, Charles or Frederick's registry of birth

My Grandpa married Winifred Louisa Maud Howes in Staines in Oct 1936

They lived in 11 Beards Road, Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex..

Can anyone please help me

Hi,

Why not confirm the last time that you found your starting point?

Please include references and ALL relevant info?

As Ray says, do you have the marriage cert of Alfred and Winifred?

What other sources do you have?

[/sadly my side of the family have no records at all.. I know the marriage record on ancestry is correct for Alfred and Winnie.. I can find out where they both lived, through the census and also then when my Grandpa died.. I know that Charles did marry Ellen Howard, as she is the Sister of someone else in the family so that is a definite correct piece of information.. Ellen's Sister was called Phyllis M Howard]

Winifred L M Howes
Registration Date:   Oct qtr1936

Reg vdistrict:   Staines
County:   Middlesex
Spouse:   Alfred Jones
Volume Number:   3a
Page Number:   67

This is the marriage.

You really should get this certificate to verify father as Charles Jones, together with his occupation.

Family sources are not really reliable as names get changed (he was always Bert to us, but his real name was Frederick etc etc).

added - what Ray is meaning is what I said above.  Family members get things wrong and confused and aren't always reliable.  No insult intended, everyone always remembers things differently.
