I  have come to a blank researching Albert Evans who may be the brother of George Edward Evans b1908, Wales.

The only information I have for both of them before they arrived in Quebec is on this ship. 21/09/1928 • Quebec, Canada:-
Ship : Duchess of Bedford Agency : Barnardos Passenger List gives age as 16, born Treeynon, Wales, destination-Mr John W Hobday, 538 Jarvis St, Toronto, Ont, next of kin- Guardians of Methyr Tydfil Union, intended occupation-farming

George Edward Evans b1908 is also listed as travelling c/o Barnardo's homes, London.

Apparently there is a distant relative (4th to 5th cousin match with my DNA so I would like to find out more, many thanks.

Your Subject header says Alfred but your post says Albert - can you clarify please?

Freebmd has 2 entries for a birth in Wales of George Edward Evans - neither were in 1908.

One in Cardiff June qtr 1907 -  mothers maiden name Bryon and the other in Newport Sept qtr 1907 mmn Pole

GRO maiden name search shows no Alfred or Albert  Evans born to either maiden name

What do you know about the parentage of George Edward Evans

To add to confusion

Alfred Evans arrived in Quebec on the Duchess of Bedford in 1928 whereas an Albert Evans arrived in 1932 same ship, same destination

This sounds like they were part of the Barnardos attempt to offer the kids a better life by shipping them off to Canada which they did from 1869 to 1932.
