Wright Family of Lymm, Cheshire
« on: Friday 20 September 19 23:47 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, was wanting to know if any one had any information on a marriage between Josiah Perrin (b. 1730 d. 1813) and a Mary Wright (b. 1738 d. 1811)

And also any information on whether her father is Richard Wright of North Moor (b. 1701 d. ????) and a Margaret Lovelady of Formby (b. 1712 d. 1780)

Maybe she is from the Wright Family of North Meols? I am unsure

Any help would much appreciated, thank you  :)

Nearest I could find is a Hannah Wright marrying a Joshua Perrin on 18th Dec 1755 in Rostherne which is near Knutsford.

This is the only marriage between Wright and Perrin that is on familysearch.org between 1700 & 1799 that took place in Cheshire

Ancestry returned nothing.

I have relatives in and around Frodsham and have found online Cheshire records to be hit and miss so just because they are not online does not mean an error, a visit to Cheshire Archives and a search there of the documents may yield more results.

Right I see, thank you for looking.
I do know that a Josiah did marry a Mary but probably under a different surname.

As I am in Wellington, New Zealand I sadly don't have any access to the archives in Cheshire. Thank you anyway though! :)

The surname is recorded as Parrin on the Lymm Parish Philimore Marriage Register.

18 Feb 1759, Josiah s. of Josiah & Mary Perrin of Bowdon

The original looks like an "e" not "a"

Hi,

Are you aware of the Cheshire Parish Register Database?

See cprdb.csc.liv.ac.uk/Live/v3.6/database.html

This has parish records for several parishes including Lymm and includes the Wright/Parrin marriage details with names of witnesses. The birth records also show a baptism of a Mary Wright of Stam
(assumed to be Statham -  a hamlet of Lymm) with a birth date of 9 Feb 1737 and baptism on 13 March 1737 - Father James Wright. Is this your Mary?

The 1756 baptism of Josiah Parrin shows father named as Joseph (in error?) as does a further birth in 1758 for a brother George.

From the Family Tree I have made on Ancestry I have the parents of Mary as a Richard Wright (1701) born in North Meols and Margaret Lovelady (1712) of Formby. And for Josiah Perrin, Joshua Perrin of Hale (1711) as the father and Mary Radcliffe of Harwood (1713) as the mother.

I have gone through other members trees and they have the exact same names etc. So am just trying to verify it all with records.

Thank you will try that website out  :)

Hi,

Firstly an apology, I don't think the 1756/58 births of Josiah and George form part of your picture.

However I would also be surprised if your suggested "Wright" family in North Meols were involved in your family. Simply for geographical reasons there is some distance between Lymm/Bowdon/Altrincham and that area which is situated north of Southport in Lancashire (over 40 miles away).

Another avenue may be looking at "Stam" - originally I thought this would be a hamlet Statham but on reflection it could be Stamford which now seems to been amalgamated into Altrincham with various references to Stamford Park, Ear of Stamford, Stamford Quarter Shopping Centre in the Altrincham area.

The suggested Perrin family of Hale may be worth exploring as that is within a few miles, close to Altrincham.
