I'm stuck again!
« on: Saturday 21 September 19 17:26 BST (UK) »
Thanks in advance for your help, but I'm stuck again!!

Elizabeth Parton born about 1875 was married to William Morris (my Great Grandfather) born about 1861.  Both lived in Shropshire.  I've found out they married in 1893.  I have 9 children recorded, plus another called Millicent who I can't find a record of.

My "problem" is, I cannot find a possible 1881 Census for Elizabeth Parton.  I seem to have found an 1891 Census for her (she was a servant) I am trying to find her parents and any brothers and sisters she may have had.

I am looking on Family Search.org.  Maybe Ancestry might give me more answers (but I only dip in every now and then so I don't have a subscription) but I'm running out of time today.

I'll check back tomorrow :)

Thanks folks ;D

I think you need to say where Elizabeth was born in Shropshire and confirm where she was in 1901 with William as there are several couples with those names that could be candidates.

Remember the more information you give the easier it is for people to help you.
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

How many children does the 1911 say that Elizabeth has had and how many still living.  I am not sure where Millicent fits in to the family, where do you have her mentioned

8 born 7 living 1 died

Elizabeth's birth place is given as Slottesdon and birth year is 1872

Stottesden is in the Cleobury Mortimer registration district.  PARTON (including soundalike) births 1870-1875 are: 1870 - Jane, 1872 - Ann, Fanny & Margaret Amelia, 1875 - Ellen Selina.

So - either the birthplace or the birth year seem to be incorrect.

I suspect that the way forward will be to purchase the marriage certificate to see if there is a name and occupation for Elizabeth's father.

I agree with Philip.

I based the 1881 census information on 1901 where Elizabeth gives Stottesdon as her p.o.b

An old thread here which names the children so 1901 is correct family
