Cotford, Bishops Lydeard Parish Registers - REASON
« on: Monday 23 September 19 08:37 BST (UK) »
If you are looking at parish registers for Somerset, please may I request a look up for Cotford in Bishops Lydeard?

It is for my mother’s baptism, in the unlikely event that her father’s name may have been recorded.

Junette Beryl Reason born 28/09/1929 Cotford, Bishops Lydeard. Her mother was Florence Dulcie Reason.

Thank you for reading my request.

Hi Genouille,

I think your request for Junette's baptism may not be readily available on-line as its too recent. You can't even search in the Government General Register Office for births after 1918.

You could try contacting the Somerset Records Office in  Taunton to see  if they could help.

Meanwhile, there is a baptism  for a Florence Dulcie Reson 14-7-1914 (d/o Henry & Minnie Reson) that took place in Ashill Parish, Somerset.
The GRO records the mother's maiden name as "Showers" in Chard District, (Sep1/4, Vol; 05c, Page; 589)
Do you think this could be your g/mother's birth?

Have you tried the Somerset Family History Society to see if they could help?

Hello Alan,

Thank you so much for your detailed reply, it is very much appreciated.

Florence Dulcie is my grandmother and Henry & Minnie my great grandparents. I have managed to trace both sides of my mother’s family back several generations, which I really should be happy with, but there is an enduring question as to who was my mother’s father. It’s likely that the information is not available, although I’m considering DNA.

Somerset Family History Society is a good suggestion and I will contact them.

Thank you again for your help and advice.
Sandie.
