GG grandparents Davies
« on: Monday 23 September 19 16:53 BST (UK) »
 Good afternoon,

I’m trying to go back a generation to my gg  grandparents William and Ellen Davies  I have my g grandfathers  birth certificate born on the 13th of July 1861 Peel Street Abergele his father was William Davies and his mother Ellen  Davies Formerly Davis
In 1884 Daniel married Emma Jones and they were living at Jenkins Street Abergele then  in 1901 with his family he was back in peel  Street Abergele
I know all about Daniel but I’m struggling to go back a generation because everybody seems to have the same name   And I can’t out him with his parents  and I don’t know of any siblings I can trace Daniel in  1881 he is single age 19 and he is a servant to William Hughes a farmer  so not with William and Ellen
Any tips on how to trace these two and know they belong to Daniel
 I can’t find them in 1871
Thank you
Val

Oh my thank you so much ,
Iv just come off North Wales marriages to try and find William and Ellen marriage no luck but you have placed them back another 10 years

I also smiled as Daniel called one of He sons  Robert  and one of his daughters Margaret   This is why I have such a job trying to sort them all out

Thank you for the  information and confirms that Daniel wasn’t the first son so I may have to go back further looking for a marriage

I’m grateful they stayed in Peel Street LOL

I’m very grateful thank you okay oh my thank you so much

Only problem is in 1871 that 1861 family headed by William & Ellen have a  DAVID Davies aged 10 b Abergele?

PS I have checked all the birth registrations in St Asaph of the 1861 children and all possibly have mmn DAVIES

Thanks
I did see that family in 1871 it’s a shame because I don’t think you can write down David instead of Daniel , I noticed your first post had a son John as well my Daniel used this name as well for one of his sons this is why I can’t claim them so frustrating
Thanks for your help

The details match so well,it's difficult to imagine that it is not the correct family in 1871.I wonder if the enumerator mis-transcribed some notes.I could imagine a hastily written "el" looking like a "d" and an "n" like a "v".

Regards
Roger

Thanks Roger
I really want to claim the family in the 1861 census as mine especially as Daniel named some of his children after the  children shown on there
In 1901 he was with his wife and  some  of his children at 21 Peel Street but nothing concrete to tie him so frustrating

I can’t find a marriage for Ellen and William
Thanks for the reply maybe I will put this in my tree and see if I get any hints
Thanks for replying

Hi the only Davies baptism I can locate that mentions Peel Street is:-

Robert Davies 14th August 1859 Abergele
Father William occ Labourer Mother Ellin
When did William & Ellen/Ellin marry?

That would tie in with the Robert in the 1861 the eldest child was 6 then so if there were no children before John then I guess 1854/5 but I can’t find a marriage for Ellen and William
My next Question would be  how do I go about searching church/chapel marriages
Thanks Val
