Robert Chapman - m - Elizabeth Maskell 1843 Oxford

Hello all,

Please can anyone find where  the above marriage took place please?

On FreeBMD they are listed as marrying in Oxfordshire sep ¼ 1843 (Vol;16, Page; 156) but using the Oxford registers on Anc..y nothing shows up, whichever way I input, the same record appears on FindMyPast (but no sub).
I'm just wondering if they married in a Registry Office.
Some trees on Anc...y have the same info but no location and it would appear their 1st child was born in Plymouth, Devon but burried in Harwell, Berks (but they were not married there).
They are only little twigs on my tree so I don't wish to buy their marriage cert.

So you could be right re Register Office.

That's a useful link re Marriage Locator - hadn't seen that before so thanks again.

Would you know if there is a site for Oxford BMDs similar to the Berks one? I've found several marriages & births thru them.

Nothing for Oxfordshire BMD as far as I know.

Please note: not Oxford That's the City, not the county.

Marriage is Oxford RD, so if not registry office, should be one of these parishes

Thank you but using Anc..y  I have been thru all the actual marriage registers for Oxford RD you  listed in that link and did not find the marriage. It doesn't even come up in a general search.

I think it must have been in a Registry Office.

Could also have been "Registrar Attended"?

I.E. Catholic, Non-Conformist, etc.

There's a Robert bapt in Oxford in 1821 at Wesleyan Methodist chapel, but residence is Oxford not Abingdon. Have you found a baptism in Abingdon?
