Edwards Family at Ropers Hill Farm
« on: Wednesday 25 September 19 17:34 BST (UK) »
I am researching my Family Tree and their association with Ropers Hill farm in Staunton Harold, Leicestershire. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome to rootschat, Mowbray.

When were your Edwards family at Ropers Hill Farm, just so we do not duplicate what you already know?

Just for info. from newspaper archives, the farm was sold in 1918, but the sellers were not named. Think the buyer might have been Mr Brindley.

Advertised for sale in 1770:
At the Star in Uttoxeter, in the County of Stafford, on Wednesday the 7th Day of March next, between the Hours of Three and Six In the Afternoon ; • A Freehold Messuage, and about Thirty Acres of Land thereto belonging, situate at Gorsty Hill, in the Parish of Hanbury, in the County of Stafford, called Ropers -Hill- Farm; at the clear Yearly Rent of Twenty-three Pounds, and now in the Possession of John Brandon.  For further Particulars enquire of Mr. Robert Hitchcock, Dyw-r, or Mr. John Hayne Attorney, both in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.

Is this the correct farm, as Staffordshire is specified here?

Thanks for your prompt reply.

The family were certainly resident at the farm between 1797 and 1885.
