I belong to several facebook DNA groups (eg. Northumberland, Scotland, County Kerry Ireland) that use the gedmatch tool to connect with others, does anyone know if there is a Sussex group please. I really would like to know that I have the right families in my tree

Hi,

I donít know of any DNA specific groups for Sussex but you could join the Sussex Family History Group Facebook group as DNA is discussed in there from time to time.

What names are you looking for? Mum has almost all Sussex ancestry (one 2xGGP was born just over the border in Surrey) and I have been able to verify all her lines back to 2x Great Grandparents by uploading her FTDNA test data to GEDmatch.

Research interests:
Sussex (Isted, Trusler, Pullen, Botting), Surrey (Isted), Shropshire (Hayward), Norfolk (Morgan), Lincolnshire (Brown, Richardson), Wiltshire (Bailey, Morgan), Schleswig-Holstein (Isted),  Nordrhein-Westfalen (Niessen).

Thank you Liz, sorry for the delay. It really is the DNA verification that I need but I will have a look at the FH facebook group

Hi Sylvia,

People in the SFHG Facebook group exchange Gedmatch numbers if they are trying to establish Sussex connections - but obviously the group is not primarily for DNA. Having said that, if you have Sussex ancestors it's well worth joining anyway!
