Can't make Cowling connection...
« on: Monday 30 September 19 08:13 BST (UK) »
I can't find early records regarding Daisy (aka Margaret) Cowling, born ~1893, the daughter of Fred Cowling and Lillian Andrews - as stated in her marriage certificate to Nicola Amicangioli in 1913 in Toronto. She states she was from Liskeard in Cornwall and appears to have been born before her parents were married. Her claimed parents and siblings appear in the English 1911 census, sailing to Canada later in the year.

But - I can't find Daisy/Margaret's birth/baptism/travel records anywhere. I am a distant DNA connection to the Amicangioli's through the Cowling line and would like to prove the connection through records!

So we have some idea of dates
Marriage Dec qtr 1894
Andrews    Lillie
Cowling    Fred
Plymouth    5b   550

First child to the marriage
COWLING, LILLIE  LOUISE     mmn ANDREWS
1895  June Quarter in LISKEARD  Volume 05C  Page 45

The information on the 1911 regarding children of the marriage does not include 'Daisy' . Daisy is not on the 1901 with Fred, Lillie and their 4 children

What evidence do you have that Lillie in 1911 census is Daisy Margaret?

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

First born after Fred and Lil married was Lillie Louise, who goes on to marry James Fairbrother Whitehead in 1915. I have another DNA link down her line as well. So she isn't Daisy/Margaret...!

I wondered if Daisy/Margaret used Fred and Lil as convenient 'parents' and she might connect back to me via another line of Cowlings - but I can't find anything to support that idea?!! I also looked for 'Andrews' her suggested mother's maiden name, but no luck there, either..... Sigh!

The marriage was 23rd May 1913 when she was 19, to try and narrow down her possible birth.
