Edward Tredwell/Ann Holton
« on: Monday 30 September 19 13:20 BST (UK) »
Edward was born on 15th November 1736 at Bucknell, Oxfordshire and baptised there on 30th November 1736. It is thought he married Ann at Bucknell on 3rd September 1763 but can anyone confirm this please. Thanks in advance, David

Hi David

I think this may be the one, but it took place in Lighthorne, Warwickshire on 3 Sept 1766, quite a distance from Bucknell - I checked the registers for Bucknell and they didn't marry there.

Edward TREADWILL married Ann HOLTOM by licence and both were 'of the parish' at that time

Both left their mark in the register

Witnesses: Thomas Mason and John Pratt.

Hi Claire,

Many thanks for your reply. I think it was assumed that as Edward was born and baptised in Bucknell that is where he married but as you say there is no firm evidence of that. Lighthorne is around 20 miles away, quite a distance in those days but the course of true love and all that..............

Thanks again, David

There are Baptisms Harbury, Warwickshire 1767/1766 to Edward/Anne

EDWARD was buried 16 Nov 1821 age 76 and ANN likely 05 Sep 1805 no age given

Hi Trish,

Thanks for that. My Edward was born and baptised at Bucknell in 1736 with parents of John & Jane. I know there are hundreds of Tredwell/Treadwells in this area which has only exacerbated the situation, David

I am confused.
The Edward who married Ann Holtom/Holton appears to have married her in Warwickshire, had children in Harbury and died there. ???

Hi Trish,

No confusion. Did the Edward you find have the parents, John & Jane? I'm not disputing the fact he married in Lighthorne, Warwickshire nor that he died in Harbury.

What I am trying to say is that it appears to me that Edward was Bapt 1744 Lighthorne, Warwickshire to John/Elizabeth.
Married there 1766 age 22
Had several children in Harbury with Ann
Died there 1821 age 76 (birth c 1745*****)

So you are following Edward born 1736 Bucknell, Oxfordshire?
He was married to a Ann?
What children do you have for them and where were they born?

Trish :)

It appears we are talking about two different Edwards. As I have said before there were a plethora of Tredwells in this next of the woods. The one I am interested in had parents John Tredwell & Jane Hawes. I have found no children so far for the Edward baptised at Bucknell as he is the brother of William 1738-1807 who is my 5th great grandfather and that is where my real interest lies. I am still not comfortable with Lighthorne marriage as this is well over 20 miles away from Bucknell which, in those days, was a considerable distance although I do not doubt that event happened albeit to another Edward.
