Thomas Powles and Ann Roberry
« on: Tuesday 01 October 19 13:21 BST (UK) »
Marriage 27 May 1824 All Saints, Hereford, Herefordshire FHL film 992204
looking for any clues on this record, such as ages, occupation, witnesses, address
sometimes the spelling is different for Ann Roberry (Roeberry / Roseberry) - not sure which is correct
no information prior to this marriage record
haven't been able to confirm them in 1841 or 1851 or subsequent census due to common names in Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Wales - any suggestions appreciated, thanks ........... Alison

have confirmation that one of their sons Thomas was born at Hampton, Hereford
so 1841 census for Ann 45, Mary Ann 10, George 7 might be OK at Hampton (where is Thomas - husband)
There is also a marriage 1821 George Powles to Margaret ? (record says Powles) at All Saints, Hereford - could be brother of Thomas (snr)

Scant info on marriage entries pre 1837

No occupations or ages.  No actual residence address

You will get witnesses names

Have you found Ann in 1851? - what is her marital status?

Suspect she may be a widow in 1841 as she is shown as a dressmaker.  Not conclusive evidence but it was more usual for widows to have an occ than married women

No death reg for Thomas 1837-1839 so he may have died pre Civil Registration
