1700 Records
« on: Tuesday 01 October 19 22:38 BST (UK) »
I'm fairly confident I've researched the records of my family tree back to my (5)Great Grandfather's history of Samuel Roberts. Born in 1740 Wales, Died 1799 in West Virginia(Virginia).Married Ruth Van Meter. Left Wales around 1768. Had a Son Daniel born in Wales in 1760. So where can I find records from Wales that old? Please respond at (*) or here.

Thanks so far for the help. All my research, several sources, mostly from Berkeley, West Virginia records have information on Samuel but only tell of his personal info but not anything from Wales. Simply states "Wales". Just looking for direction on if any records for mid 1700's exists and where to find them. And yes Familysearch.org website seems helpful!

Welcome to Rootschat, Sammy.
As Rosie and Treetotal have pointed out, in order to help you, people will need more information than just "Wales". It's the same as saying an ancestor was from the US.
There are different records for each county in Wales, and different records for each parish in each county.
As suggested, familysearch may be your best bet. You could also try freereg.org
Hope this helps.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Thanks! These are the only two records I could find. Seems to suggest one of these two may be my Great Grandfather(x5).

Can you find a corresponding marriage record, or baptism for son Daniel in Montgomeryshire?

Findmypast has registers for many parts of Wales

Samuel Roberts
Wales, Montgomeryshire, Parish Registers, 1538-1912
baptism:
23 November 1740
Llandysul, Montgomeryshire, Wales

Samuel Roberts
Wales, Montgomeryshire, Parish Registers, 1538-1912
birth:
16 January 1740
baptism:
17 January 1740
Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire, Wales

There is a burial in Llandysul in 1770 for a Samuel Roberts, no age given. No mention of a marriage for him or a son Daniel.
....
I cannot see anymore information on a Samuel Roberts in Llanfyllin or mention of a son Daniel.
