Sweeney/McMurray
« on: Friday 04 October 19 16:27 BST (UK) »
Hello all,
I know George Sweeney Married Mary McMurray in County Fermanagh.  They move to Greenock and have more family, the last child being born in 1867.  When George died in 1874 he was a widow.  I cannot find a death for Mary anywhere, I have spent a bomb on Scotland’s People.

I was hoping by finding her death certificate it might tell me who her parents were.  Any help would be wonderful.

Cheers
Kathy

Can you give us an idea of when she was born from age on marriage & census?

Annie

Add...did she have a middle name she may have been known as/using?

Not finding anything anywhere (incase she died in a hospital elsewhere) is it possible she went back to Ireland.

When did she marry & was her father's name on the marriage cert?

Annie

Add...Can you name the children in order & can you eliminate any named after George's parents as this can sometimes be a clue to parentage?

Hi, Mary was born 1828ish according to census.

I have discounted 611/31165 Bridgeton 1869,  644/960 Tradeston 1874, I have tried all different spellings, items starting with S*****,  I would think she died in Greenock, but nothing, I thought maybe she died in Smithston which is under Gourock, nothing, I expanded to all over, but I just can’t see that she would have gone too far.

I’m beginning to think that this is a wall not to be broken down 😕

Who was the informant on the St. Rollox death?

Was James still alive?

Edward, Margaret, Anne, Nicolaus, Myles, John, James, Martha, Ann, that is all I have been able to trace.  They came from Fermanagh, Married in 1848. Fermanagh.

George’s Father is Edward, but his mother is not on his death certificate.

I cannot find their marriage in Ireland.
