I forgot to list Sarah's names on each child's birth certificate.  In birth order her name is listed as Sarah Ann, Sarah Mary, Mary, Sarah Mary, Sarah Ann, Sarah Ann, Sarah Mary, Sarah Mary, Sarah Mary and Sarah Mary.  Both Harry and Sarah refer to her as Sarah Ann or Sarah Mary on birth certificates.  Her marriage certificate says she was Sarah Anne Wilsher, aged 22 B 1852).
Their first child was born a couple of weeks over 9 months after their marriage so it wasn't a case of having to get married.

Harry and Sarah Bradbury - information from various certificates.  I just had a brainwave and used the snipping tool and it worked.

Please,  re-examine the actual documents, one at a time .... those QLD birth certs .... and then please type up your transcription of the 1881 birth rego, include all the info on the primary source,  under the headings used on that official record.  Does that b.c. include the names and ages of that child's older siblings?

I expect that the regulars following this thread are keen to help but prefer to rely on the actual documents rather than a summary .... often the small minor detail not included in the summary will hold the key to help find the clue you need and it is the fresh eyes of an Rchatter that may notice that key.

 :)

There is a Question mark after the occuoation of Mary Agne's dad on the snip.  I am sure a LUMPER was the description of the occupation for those who shovelled the coal on those coastal traders up and down the Eastern seaboard of Australia.

In that 1916 cutting the one found guilty was a Mr KEEN,  who worked as a Foreman at the Gas Works ...   that would be AGL,  coal fired Gas Works ... lumpers, stokers, firemen,  labourers,  ... those Gas Works would be a ready employment opportunity for any former crew on steam ships .... those boilers needed to be kept fired up while at sea...

Using a spreadsheet is a useful way for you to keep track of the documents you have for BDM events for the people you are researching.

A spreadsheet is of no use for the collaborative, pooled efforts of a forum. The substance and presentation of the individual documents is of use to a forum.

If I am asking you about a particular birth record I do not mean....eg...... the contents of A12 to A20 on your spreadsheet.

I am asking you to look at a particular document.....give thoughtful consideration to what you are seeing.......and pass on that information for a forum to work with.

Your enquiry has generated more than 65 posts, and we seem to be barely treading water.....not much progress.  There might be someone out there who does know about your BRADBURY and / or WILSHER families, but working through so many posts would overwhelm even the most interested person.

You do not need to hurry with your research here, but you do need to be making some progress.

Start with the marriage certificate. This is the earliest evidence you have that Sarah and Harry ever existed.  Is this a typed (transcribed) document, or an image of a handwritten document?

What date is on the marriage document.

Do you see a signature for Harry and Sarah....or do they use their mark?

Are the signatures well formed...suggesting a level of education. It does not have to fit a level of education but can be useful to note.

Witnesses Thomas Grey VENNER and Marie Ellen CASS.......each followed by a question mark. Is the question mark on the document, or is it your uncertainty about the names?

You need to account for these witnesses. If Harry and Sarah marry soon after arrival you might expect the witnesses to have travelled on the ship with them.

On the passenger list for "St James" I see Thomas GRAY, 38 years....Thomas VENNER  17 years.

I am not seeing Marie Ellen CASS on the passenger list. If Marie Ellen is not on the passenger list you might wonder who she is......in Maryborough when the "St James" arrives.

BDM QLD marriage
1874   C455   Sarah Anne WILSHER    marr. Harry Arthur  BRADBERRY  (28 Jul 1874)

Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser Saturday  25 Jul 1874
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/148068253?
...arrival of the "St James" on Thursday.........

that would be....... arrival Thursday 23 Jul 1874....married 28 Jul 1874...five days later.  Where do you see them marrying one day after arrival?

A possible for  the female witness - Mary Ellen CARR.

She and her husband John CARR were second class passengers on the St James 1874
This can be seen on the links to the passenger lists already given.

He was a school master as listed and assigned to the Yengarie State School.
Yengarie was also the place that F F NIXON was when he employed Sarah BRADBURY

John CARR died in 1887

At his death the executrix of his will was Mary Ellen CARR.

This article about the theft of jewellery of Mrs CARR associates Mary Ellen CARR with Yengarie. 1889

Mary Ellen CARR was also a teacher in the district.

A possible death.

Mary Ellen CARR

The clergyman did not take much care in recording the info on that marriage... the spelling of Harry's surname does not match his father's.

Have you sought out the actual church record to see if there is greater detail on that .... afterall,  usual residence may have a legal meaning in the Qld marriage Act at that time ... may be weeks rather than days ....  :) and parish register may have actual signatures .... and margin notes ...
