Hello i was wondering if anyone could work this one out for me please.I have two birth certificates for my grandmother with identical details both registered on the same day but by different registers.Different births above and below my grandmothers entry on each of the certificates(not related to my gran).Any ideas why it was done twice by two different registers ?

Firstly, can we assume that your grandmother is no longer alive?
Secondly, which country are we looking at?
Thirdly, what date?
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids. They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks for that additional information.
However, I'm unable to help as I have absolutely no knowledge of Scottish records

What districts are the certificates registered in one possibility is your gran was born in a district different to the one her parents lived in
Or are all the details of her birth including the informant the same on both possibly registered twice

When I checked the hospital records where she was meant to be born she wasn't on them. Her mother lived in 308 Renfrew street at the time which was an abandoned mothers home and afterwards there was no trace of her mother ever again.x

Was her mother the informant it could just be a simple case of accidentally been entered into the registration books twice have you checked the reference numbers on Scotland's People how different are they
