Martin and Mary Clements, Fulbourn
« on: Sunday 06 October 19 19:04 BST (UK) »
I wonder whether anyone can help me to break a wall?

My Clements family research starts in 1692, when Martin and Mary Clements appear in Fulbourn, near Cambridge. The first event is the baptism of son John Clements  (Clemance) in 1692.

Five further sons are baptised at All Saints church, Fulbourn, as follows:
Robard Clemants (presumably Robert), baptised 24 May 1696
William Clements, baptised 9 April 1699
Richard Clemence, baptised 14 May 1701
Benjamin Clements, baptised 11 February 1704
Joseph Clements, baptised 7 December 1707

Unfortunately, the parents (Martin and Mary) are a mystery. I have not been able to find either Martin Clements' birth, or a marriage between Martin Clements and Mary. I've been looking for Clem* given the fluid spelling at the time.

I've tried looking further afield from Fulbourn but so far without luck. If anyone has any ideas where I might be able to look, I would be thrilled to hear them.

Hi
Martin Clemence married Alice Dubra/Deborah  at Cherry Hinton 24 Oct 1664.
He seems to be baptised as Clements
Martin Clements s of Martin and Ann 14 Oct 1632 at Cherry Hinton
Marriage as Clemente to Anne Gaille 6.7.1628
Anne Clements wife of Martin buried 19.11.1634

Martin Clements remarried ? Rose Clarke  29.6.1635 at Chery Hinton (Rose Clements buried 29.3.1640)
? Joanne Blunt 6.8.1640 at Cherry Hinton
Looks like Martin Clement buried Cherry Hinton 4.3.1651

There is an apprenticeship 1722
Benjamin Clements of Fulburne son of Martin to
Martin Clements of Cherry Hinton  Master wheelwright for £4.

So looks like the name was Clements.

Wow, Gibel, Ciderdrinker, Garstonite, you guys are amazing. I can't wait to get home from work and follow through on all these leads!

Thank you so much! I've been stuck on this for about 18 months. Cherry Hinton is very close to Fulbourn.

Dear Ciderdrinker

I have spent quite a lot of time over the weekend double checking all of the facts that everybody has given me on this thread. It has been amazingly helpful (thank you again, everybody). The one thing I have not been able to find is the apprenticeship that you mentioned above.

Please if you can remember where you saw it, might you be able to send me a link?

Kind regards
Alison
