Photographs 1890-1911
« on: Monday 07 October 19 11:31 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am trying to establish a possible date for a photo of an ancestor. It was taken outside his house somewhere near Botwell and he was sitting in a chair, posed for it. He was not a wealthy man so I wonder if people travelled door to door taking and selling photographs during the period 1890-1911 when I think the photo could have been taken, judging by his age? I know they did later, in the 1930s. There is no studio or other name on the photo, which is sepia on card I think (I don't own the original). There is a bicycle and even a person coming out of a doorway in the background. Many thanks for any help :-)

Do you think you could put a copy (of a copy?) on this board
'Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs'
for help in dating it?
