Kinchestown, Newtownbarry
« on: Thursday 10 October 19 20:02 BST (UK) »
In the Parish Registers of St Mary’s Church, Newtownbarry there is a reference to Kinchestown under the "Abode" column.  Can anyone advise the location of this abode?

I am descended from a Protestant Kinch who moved from Ireland to Canada circa 1830 and still looking for clues as to the parish / village from which they came.

Regards, Linda

The Parish registers available online show a Jane Plunkett, birth Kinchestown, 1892. (She died in 1894 with address also given as Kinchestown). The birth and death cert available to view on Irishgenealogy.ie gives the location of birth and death as Kilbranish, Co Carlow.
Jane's father's marriage in 1891, 2nd marriage in 1893 and location in 1901 census is given as Kilbranish also.

Thanks for this.  So would it be safe to assume that Kinchestown was located within or was a section within Kilbranish?

Regards,
Linda from Canada

Judging by what is posted I reckon so.
