Gamm/ Gumm
« on: Friday 11 October 19 17:58 BST (UK) »
Hallo,
There is an Edward Gamm on the Hagley Worcs census for 1841. He is 30, a male servant of an innkeeeper, John  Mayfield.
He was not born in Worcs.
I think this may be my elusive Edward Gumm  christened 1810 in Kingston Surrey. Parents Thomas Gumm and Johannah.
Would someone be able to see if he is on the 1851 census anywhere please?
The surnames Gamm / Gamma/ Gamm and Gumm or Gomm have all been used for this family  so I have never been able to find them all.
Edward,s brother Henry was mistranscibed Gammon!
Grateful thanks to you in advance.

Can't see a likely candidate in 1851 as yet but as you say the name is easily muddled.

Thank you all for looking.
I have no further info on him apart from baptism in Kingston.

The family lived in Ham  though I think  ,as eldest, Henry, was baptised in Harmondsworth they may be linked somehow to the Hillingdon Gumms.
Henry took me years to track down as always mistranscribed.

Thomas and Johannah  married at Cookham Berks in 1807 and moved to Ham Surrey  after Henry,s birth ,where Edward was born  and baptised Kingston. Others followed. Two child  burials in Kingston ,.Dinah and  Isaac.

Thomas died before 1843 according to Rebecca,s marriage cert.
Very elusive lot.
Time to give up the search I guess.
Thank you again.
