I wondered about Ann being a widow but she seemed rather young.

I will look and see if I can see anything re the John Towers living in Leicestershire and whether he might be Ann's father??

May be of use

There is a marriage of   Dorothy Towers in nearby Branston in 1819  to Richard Hives and John Towers was a witness

A search in the County has also revealed an Ann TOWERS bap 14 Apr 1797 in Branston. Parents William and Catherine.  I haven't completed the children so there may be an opportunity for the birth of a child named Catherine so will now complete the children to test the hypothesis.

According to Google Maps Branston is about a 30 min approx walk away from or to Eaton.  On the other hand Denton walking distance from Eaton is approx 2 hours .

Thoughts?

Well found  - the Leices/Lincs border at that point is between Denton and Eaton/Branston.    Looks more likely that Ann was baptised at Branston and married next door in Eaton.

Thanks Kay.

I suppose in attempting to 'fit' with the Denton birth location it may be that Ann was born at Denton and her parents may have moved to Branston sometime after her birth and that's where she was baptised.  Thoughts?

Searching FindMyPast William and Catherine had 8 children bapt in the parish between 1781 and 1797 so it looks unlikely lived in Denton prior to Ann's baptism

I would keep the Branston bapt as a good possible and dig around the other Towers children the couple had and see if there were any other connections.

Also given that Ann had a John Towers witness at her wedding and so did the Dorothy Towers that married in Branston in 1819 I would look for a John Towers.    I love puzzles :)
