Joshua Wilkinson

I'm having difficulty finding the above in the 1901 and 1911 census.  He was born in Glasgow in 1897 to William and Margaret and I know that they eventually lived in Dumbarton.  I've had a look at Scotlands People and Ancestry without joy.

I think they're transcribed as WILLIAMSON on the 1901 Ancestry.

Maureen

That is what I am seeing too  ;D . They are transcribed correctly on FindMyPast

ADDED I don't think Ancestry has the 1911 Scottish census

I don't understand why you failed to find him on Scotland's People. As Rosie99 says, the index at Scotland's People lists in the 1901 census Joshua H Wilkinson, aged 3, in New or East Kilpatrick, and in the 1911 census Joshua H Wilkinson, aged 13, in Dumbarton.

I am not surprised that you failed to find him on Ancestry, which is notorious for incorrect transcriptions of names.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
