Thanks Annie,

This story is starting to really intrigue me now & I am looking at census returns for her parents as well. I think the Marion in the 1891 census is wrong due to the ages but some things are similar. We will see how it develops gradually without devoting too much time.

Against my better judgement I gave into curiosity & tried to find out more about Christina & her parents with not a lot of success & a few wasted credits to Scotland's People.
According to her marriage cert. her birth year should have been 1887. & her parents were Michael McNeil & Mary McLean.
According to her Gravestone her birth year was 1885.
Checking on S.P. index there were 3 births in Barra from 1883 - 1889 (allowing for any variation) so I purchased the appropriate records.
1885 parents Donald McNeil (crofter) & Catherine McNeil.
1889 parents Angus McNeil (crofter) & Christina McKinnon
1883 parents Michael McNeil (fisherman) & Christina McKinnon (popular surname)
So neither is actually correct but 1883 looks the closest although there were probably lots of fishermen called Michael McNeil.
I know that her parents were married in 1874 (I have that cert.)
My next issue was the1881, 1891 & 1901 census records which partly shone a light but the parents ages were completely weird. All the children including Christina's ages increased by approx. 10 years but Michael's went 39, 44 & 60. While Mary's went 29, 43 & 46. She also changed from Mary to Marion in 1891.
In the 1891 census Michael is described as a fisherman widower but I could not find a death for Mary or a possible remarriage for Michael despite purchasing yet more records from S.P.
I am not sure if I can put this next bit on here but I have various records which people can have a copy of if they wish.
Christy Mclean birth 1885
Christy McNeil birth 1885
Christina McNeil birth 1889
Christina McKinnon & Angus McNeil marriage cert. 1874 (possibly parents of Christina 1889 above)
Michael McNeil & Marion Gillis marriage 1887
I think this issue will now be put on hold for the foreseeable future unless more information comes to light.

There were 2 births 1885 - Christy 108/ 16 & (edit) Chiristy 108/ 37

I noted you'd viewed Christy i.e. I viewed (edit) Chiristy which turned out to be the correct one, born 24 Jun 1885

If you PM me your email I will gladly send it.
