William Dougherty and Jeannie Ewing
« on: Monday 14 October 19 19:35 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks

I need help. I've drawn a blank in my research on a William Dougherty who married Jeannie Ewing in Derry in 1931. Can't find anything anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated

When and where were they both born?    Are they on the 1911 Irish census?

How do you know they married in 1931?

Marriage was 12 Nov.1931 Derry Registration district. You can order certificate from GRONI's site (after registration) to get full details which will hopefully include names of both parents (unless illegitimate).

Thanks for someone getting back to me folks.

I have a copy of the marriage cert and I know that William's father was James Dougherty and William was 26, and  that Jeannie's father was Samuel Ewing and she was 24, but that's all I know. Normally in my research that's all I need to know, but on this occasion I have drawn a complete blank tracing any side of their families.

Any suggestions

Any addresses on the certificate? Occupations?

Since you already have their marriage certificate please give us full details.

Have you found them in 1911?

Any possibility Jeannie was born somewhere other than Ireland?   Scotlands People has several Jeanie Ewing births between 1905-1908 and the Scottish 1901 has a lot of Samuel Ewings - just a thought.

What was Samuel's occupation on the 1931 marriage cert?

What is your connection to them?
