Sinann

I wonder could it be referring to Boley near Ballylynan in Co Laois

My reasoning is based on the census in 1911 LINK showing a Peter CAHILL aged 14 with his widowed mother and siblings

There is a CAHILL family at the same address in 1901 LINK with the father still alive named John; however the matching Peter is now a grandson!

John CAHILL m Margaret KEALY on Feb 19 1867 in Wolfhill, Ballylinan

There seems to be at least 16 births to this combination of names from 1867 until 1887 which match in the place names and people's names.

I cannot see a Peter CAHILL however!

Julia CAHILL was the daughter of Maggie shown on the 1901 census.

Martin CAHILL m Julia PRICE on Jul 16 1919 and his address is shown as Boley, Ballylinan; granted in much clearer handwriting! LINK

There is a possibility that this is Peter registered as Pierce LINK #190; born Jun 23 1895

There was a Mary CAHILL born on Aug 15 1874 LINK

I don't see a death for a Pierce CAHILL or an entry on the 1901 census immediately

I think you could be correct but I haven't had any luck going forward.
My gut is saying this couple emigrated, fingers crossed something turns up to prove you are correct.
Thanks for all the help.

I check Naas 1920's for Cahill Marriages last night...think there were 5.  None with any similar address.

Are these in a different District?  Might be worth a try looking for Marriages 1920's there??

The Cahill's myluck found are Carlow reg district.
It's the wife's family I'm researching, not even for myself, a descendent of Marie's sister asked for help on a local blog, my mother remembered the family so I ended up replying and with other locals managed to get lots of info for him, he was over from America during the summer and I'm now just trying to do a bit of follow up, trying to figure out where all the siblings ended up.
We know some of them went to England.
The 1939 register might throw up something next time there is a free weekend ;D

Apologies, I thought it was the placenames you were wondering about,  and why I looked at the townlands on those five Naas Cahill ones and my suggestion to check Carlow ones for this Ballywhatever townland on one of these Carlow ones.

Well yes I did want that townland, I did think it might be in Kildare, but I think myluck is right. Marie could have been working in the area and come home to marry. I was hoping if I could figure out where he was from they might have lived there after they married. I can find a few Cahill in the newspapers from Boley but no Peter or Marie.

This could be a complete red herring but there is a US WW2 Card for a Peter CAHILL
His date of birth is given as Jun 23 1895
Place of birth Carobuggy Ireland?

He was living at 242½ S 3rd Avenue, My Vernon, NY
Next of Kin Mary of same address

Not sure where Carobuggy might be but the D0B is that of the Pierce I found!
