"It did sound good, but I have tried to do it, and the 'make preferred' option is in pale writing so I can't click on it. Also, a lot of the events already have a 'P' next to them. To the best of my knowledge (which is scant at the best of times) I have never clicked on 'make preferred' so why some things are P and some not, is beyond me.
The ones with 'pale writing' should be name & born which will automatically have a 'P' (unless he has 2 names & 2 birth dates) as it's only 'Facts' which have several dates which can be changed i.e. depending on which date of each event was entered initially & in which order.
If an event such as Census has been entered from 1911 back to 1841 then whichever date was initially entered would automatically be the 'P' e.g. 1911 unless she edits 1841 by clicking on it then choose 'Make Preferred'
If there's only 1 entry for any/all facts it will always automatically be 'pale writing' as there's nothing to compare it to with other dates.
Failing this can you post an image of what shows regarding the 'timeline' by clicking on 'Edit' then 'Facts'?
