I'm crestfallen!!
« on: Wednesday 23 October 19 16:09 BST (UK) »
Ancestry have updated my ethnicity estimate - and I've lost my 6% Swedish bit! I had dreams of finding the link and establishing contact with an ancestor who would then invite me over to live there permanently.

Since I did my DNA test, I've used that 6% Swedish connection to explain my dislike of sunbathing and even of being too warm.  ;D And now its gone!!!  :'( Just like that!!  :'(

Mind you, there's still no sign of my Scottish links or even, strangely enough, any breakdown of my Englishness that includes the area my father and all of his ancestors came form: Bucks/Berks.

I don't want to be 100% England, Wales (not a Welsh bone in my body so far, look you!) & NW Europe (though, surely that would include Sweden?).

I really don't understand these people who do the test purely for the ethnicity results. Apparently 'guano' means the same in Swedish as it does in English!!!
HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

You'll have to get a part time job at IKEA to compensate  ;)
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Likewise with IgorStrav. ;)

I know how you feel - I have recently just lost the 3% Norway that I had.  The biggest blow though was that I have 11% less Irish. :o  Gutted!  Especially, as I feel the most closely connected with my Irish ancestors overall.  Oh well, I could drown my sorrows with a Guinness.  ;)

I had quite a lot of Scandi to start with and then it was all taken away. Now, I've regained 2% Swedish. Skol! :D

I've had my 3% Norwegian returned (nicked from my England, Wales, etc bit) and my Scottish/Irish has increased by 2%.

I still feel the same  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think my mother acquired it from you!

I am going to write to Ancestry and ask them why they have nicked my 3% Norwegian and given this to you Gadget. ;)  As well as 2% of my Irish!  I wonder who they have given my other 9% loss too.   ???

My sympathies  Jill.   My poor OH lost his Swedish element in the last DNA update as well but we were really suprised he had any  in the first place.

However I recently went in the other direction and now have 7%  Norwegian for the first time!!
