Vera Gillis Delphine Gillis Hull 1942
« on: Friday 25 October 19 17:36 BST (UK) »
Currently working on a project to research the blitz casualties where I live. However, I am struggling to find information on little Delphine Gillis. She was only 6 months old when she was killed in a raid on May 20th 1942 on Hull. I have checked the CWGC which only gives her mother's name as Vera Gillis. I can only find one possible, Vera Gillis (Garkin) in the West Riding which I suppose is possible? No marriage or anything for Vera.
Can anyone take a look with fresh eyes before I give up? I really want to know more.

Indeed. Presumably, though, this isn't the mother of Delphine/Delphene, who one would expect to be unmarried in mid-1941 when the baby was born.

If (as the registration tells us) her birth was registered on or before 30 September 1941, Delphine was more than 6 months old at death in May 1942.

She was 9 months old according to this list (and CWGC, from where it is drawn):

Nobody else is listed as having died at the same address, 6 Ripley Ave.

I've seen 6 or 9 months and CWGC get it wrong often that I tried both but still came up with a blank. Thanks for all your replies. Very helpful.
