Frederick Stewart Seed b. 1846
« on: Monday 28 October 19 15:24 GMT (UK) »
Any help/suggestions appreciated in tracking down this ancestor who disappears after 1891 census.

He was born St Helier, Jersey 3 May 1846, appears with parents, Thomas and Amelia on  1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 census as a portrait artist, photographer living around Bristol/Hereford, 1891 living  alone Princes Place Clifton, Bristol.
Mother died 1888. Father died 1895.
No sign of Frederick on marriage, death indexes, subsequent census.
I'm wondering if he might have gone abroad.
Any way I can check this?
Anywhere else I can look?

Many thanks

Do you know if he was the informant on his father's death certificate?

He is in several trees on Ancestry - some of them private, have you contacted them?  The public ones do not appear to know when he died.

He is in their alphabetical list of photographers, so they do have some information on him:

So, now established that Frederick was the informant on his father's death in 1895.
No further information though.

Anyone of that name on a passenger list or he may have returned to his birthplace.

Did he have any siblings?  You could check those out to see if he ended up with any of them if he was a single man.

He may also have been buried with his parents if you know where they ended up.

Thanks for the reply.

All good suggestions but...
His only brother pre-deceased him.
The family grave was full when his father was buried in 1895, and I’d have thought there would be a death index record?

Any idea where I can check passenger lists?
Ancestry only has incoming records that I can find.

Thanks again.

Was the grandson (Thomas Frederick bn 1861 mmn Fox) who was with the family in 1871 a son of the brother?  ie Frederick's nephew?   Do we know what happened to him, or his mother?
