Thanks for that, Mobo.
What a characterful church.
Your beautiful photo prompted me to go looking as outliers in my famhist had connections with Siddington. There are various photos both of the exterior and amazing interior and a history of the church on the website http://www.siddingtonchurch.co.uk/index.html - further testament to its uniqueness. (That info's for the benefit of other chatters - I much expect you've already seen them!).

It really is a beautiful church.

Many of my ancestors were from the area. Must have a "look see".

Thanks SwissGill, I'm glad you like it. Also, looking at your areas of search, we once lived in Baden-Württemberg in The Black Forest - a lovely place where we had a fantastic time.
Cheers,
Anne

Hello Anne

I knew my grandfather Fisher came from Germany but my mother and her sisters didn't know the name of the place.
A few years ago I started to search for my unknown relations. I had already emigrated to Switzerland in 1969. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the Town of Künzelsau was only about 380 Km from our home. I visited Künzelsau a few years ago. My gt Grandmother's birth house was still standing in nearby Kocherstetten. She was born in 1842, exactly 100 years before my birth.

Kind Regards
Gill

That's amazing Gill - but Family History Research has a habit of throwing up coincidences like that, as I'm sure you've found out.

Funnily enough when we first went to Germany we lived in a small village called Schliengen-Liel, (in der nähe von Freiburg im Breisgau) and we were also near Basel and the Alsace, which we'd visit often. Some years later, we moved to Freiburg itself.  Great times.  See photo of Basel Stadt

The Basler and the Zürcher citizens have a century long rivalry with one another  ::)

I have found my Siddington relatives. They were the Bowers from Marthall.

More later, maybe private post as it will not interest all and sundry.
