Internet Security software recommendation
« on: Friday 01 November 19 10:51 GMT (UK) »
I run Kasperky’s and have done so for many a year starting with their Anti-virus and went to Internet Security– never had problems installing the updates - initially from them, but latterly have bought it elsewhere as it’s cheaper!  Downloaded the latest version following the instructions – but, don’t know if it’s working properly, e.g. I changed my email address which was accepted and validated – yet when I apply for something, it  either tells me that it doesn’t recognise my new email address/password, or replies with my old email info!  Unfortunately, due to my current health, such things become too much to deal with.  I just want to totally delete Kaspersky and change to something that is recommended – and I should be able to cope with!  :D
Any comments/advice would be gratefully received.

Firstly, when did you change address/

Very often it can take a few days for changes to an account to get fully updated on Mainframe system!

Yes, your new email address was accepted and validated.....but that doesn't mean it is fully up on the System.

If it were me I'd allow one week for System to pick up changes.

Even on ancestry I can make changes on Tree, can see changes etc.... but as far as I can remember their System/Mainframe only gets updated every Saturday.

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

I recommend ESET security. We've used it for several years. If it's good enough for our local computer specialist to put on their company's system that's good enough for me.

As Pat says, ESET has a very good reputation.

Re getting rid of the left overs ~  I had that problem and I eventually solved it. I think I found a clean up tool on Kaspersky's site.  It was a good while ago but I'll see if I can locate it, but can't guarantee.

If you have your serial number it is easily sorted.

Just ring up Kaspersky and they will help you get it sorted.

They were hopeless when I  phoned but that was a few years ago. Maybe they've improved!

You need to uninstall Kaspersky properly. It seems like you are trying to install the second version as well as having the older one still on your system. The registry references will be confused with the other credentials which is why you are getting the errors, see here how to uninstall Kaspersky https://support.kaspersky.com/common/uninstall/12783

I recommend ESET security.

Another one who uses it.

That's the link I used to remove the app but there were left overs and definitely not from a previous version. I only had it for a couple of years on a Mac  and really didn't like it, so when I ran the remove tool, it left some odd 'bits' behind. I think I found the solution by Googling.

I don't think they do a version for Mac any more, maybe because of the problems as Google brought up a lot of complaints.
