1802 marriage Herefordshire
« on: Saturday 02 November 19 16:24 GMT (UK) »
familysearch has an entry for a marriage between Edward Thomas and Sarah Jones 18 July 1802. The entry just says that it took place in Herefordshire.

I cannot find a mention of this marriage anywhere else . Can onyone find it for me please.

Thanks,

Emeltom

Not that it’s much help but a free search on FindMyPast marriages Thomas year 1802 place herefordshire
gives one result, in whitney (on wye), you have to be quick to read it :)

I subscribe to FindMyPast and I'm blowed if I can find a Thomas marriage in Whitney in 1802, certainly not for an Edward Thomas. familysearch has an Edward Thomas to an Ann Jones in 1804 but that's not the one I'm after.

Thanks for the info but I'm afraid it hasn't helped.

Hi
By a process of elimination I think it's going to be Trelystan
A chapelry in Chirbury? Montgomeryshire/Shropshire borders?

There's a hiatus for marriages there on Findmypast, one of the last before the gap is Richard Rogers and Elizabeth Asterley in 1796
And that is on the film in question, 9 Nov 1796
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:7NC4-H6ZM

Says on image 452
And on image 459 is the Edward Thomas - Sarah Jones marriage in 1802. Sounds about right! Pity we can't see them!
All the other places are ruled out.
John

Many thanks for that John.  I was thinking it might be Treslatyn becaue of its proximity to Worthen which was where they were born. That just leaves me with one question re fs - Why do they find it so difficult to include the name of the church and where it is in their transcriptions?
