Dorset Family History Society’s Monthly Meeting
« on: Thursday 07 November 19 20:44 GMT (UK) »
On Tuesday 17th December 2019:

STEVE ROBERTS is welcomed back to give his talk ‘MR. SELFRIDGE - FACT AND FICTION’.

This time he tells the true story of retail entrepreneur Harry Selfridge, his American background, his flagship store, his family, successes and failures. Steve also looks at the TV series and assesses what they got right and what they got wrong. How many of the characters were based on real people? Did Harry Selfridge really build homes fit for heroes at the end of WW1? Did he really have a fall when unveiling the Queen of Time?

Steve lives in Christchurch, originally graduating as a teacher, he later changed career to become an IT Project Manager. In 2012 he came to Christchurch and became a freelance writer, private tutor and public speaker.
