Edith Barr Drowned Fitling
« on: Friday 08 November 19 13:12 GMT (UK) »
Hello Everyone.

I am trying to find anything about the death of Edith Barr at Fitling, East Yorkshire. She apparently drowned in the pond at a farm there called Canham's Farm (sometimes known as Cantram's). I have found the death index from 1913, but trying to prove that she drowned.

We know for definite a girl drowned there. A lot of people in the village know of it and say that "she was a Ford". Her mother's maiden name was Ford and she was living in Fitling with her grandparents, also Fords.

Thank you very much in advance for your help,
Tony.

Well, £7 would get you the death certificate pdf and you'd find out her cause of death for certain.

Have you looked in online newspaper archives?

I was going to fall back on that option if I couldn't find anything/anyone on here couldn't find anything.

I have had a look at some, but to no avail. I was trying to find out if there was something in newspapers or anything similar, that I had possibly missed.

Thanks for responding.

Rowley is 21 miles away from Fitling.

I can't find any reference to a drowning in 1913 for Edith Barr in local newspapers. She 18 years old at the time. How sad. You may want to look for nearby churches in Holderness, they may hold a clue.
