French births

Does anybody know how I can find out births in Calais.  I have two births about 1888 and 1890.

It is possible to search on ancestry what names and other information do you have ?
Eg names of children.

There are birth records for Calais* on Ancestry for the years you mention.

I put Pas de Calais in the search of Ancestry it says no titles match.

on the 1891 census in Sussex there is Frances Bishop head, Mary Ann daughter, John son all born is Sussex and there are two grand daughters Nellie 3 and Alice 1 both born in Calais.  For a few years I have tried to see where they ended up and which child of Frances they belong to.  Some have put they belong to Mary Ann and others John but who is to say that they belong to one of Frances' other children. I just thought that I would have another go at finding out more about these two children.  They are a puzzle!

Maybe Pas-de-Calais.  A few came up for me when I looked.

However, if they are British citizens, they may be consular registrations and would show up in the overseas births.

FindMyPast has these records and they have a free weekend at the moment so you could try there.

I've had a quick look and can't see them.  I'm wondering if they could be Mary A's children.

Have you followed them up on 1901, 1911 or Frances backwards ?

I se what you mean about them. They seem to disappear and I can't see the family easily before 1891*.   Do you have the names of Frances's other children?

I have found a death of a Mary Ann Bishop's death in Croydon 1919 today and I wondered if that could be my Mary Ann as two of her sisters moved to Surrey but there are so many Mary Ann Bishops.  I couldn't find Mary Ann on the 1901 or 1911 census.  As you say all three they disappear.
