Thank you!

I'm interested in Edward from Wicklow. It mentions in the census he was a light keeper and trying to establish does this mean "lighthouse" keeper or if he was responsible for lights. I have the census records for peppers and melia and the transcript of edwards marriage ( I should have said in initial enquiry)

Regarding the unknown pepper record ..the family myth was Bridget died giving birth to a daughter Harriet but I discovered Bridget died of TB in 1901. This is the birth of Harriet which I could not get to the end of. You have made my day.

Thanks a million.

Actually very easy to find......  ;D    From 1900 one can just enter the 2 Surnames one wants

......or even just one where Mother was a Melia.

For any brothers just amend Search accordingly on

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/advanced-civil.jsp if you're missing any 1900+

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Yes it is. I thought he might be connected to the lighthouse at the shellybanks near ringsend.  I could not find his baptism in wicklow with the link you gave me but thanks for all the help!

there was also the lightships which as far as i know would sail to their destination and moor there for possibly a week then come back in to restock and change crew

eg the ''Albatross '' 1875

Hi Daithi!

I didn't realise that.  That's interesting.
