Davies Tree
« on: Friday 15 November 19 07:40 GMT (UK) »
Hello. I am having great difficulty trying to trace information about the birth etc. of James Henry Davies, born about 1832-4. His father on wedding registration is George Davies a basket maker. James was also a basket maker. George was married to Jane Brook who died about 1832 and he remarried. Possible a woman called Sutcliffe, possibly someone called Meadows. There is a James Henry Meadows whose father was also a basket maker about the same time. It is possible that James was adopted and changed his name. I would be grateful for any advice..The tree they are on is just called Davies.

Yes of course.
He was born in Liverpool.I cannot find his birth or death registrations
He married Elizabeth Ann Grimshaw in 1856
He appears in the 1861 and 1871 census
There are birth registrations for a James Henry and Philip with parents James Henry and Ann Davies in 1875 also marriage registrations for some of his children with his name and occupation.

Thank you

He was born in Liverpool.I cannot find his birth or death registrations

You won't find a Birth Registration as Civil Registration didn't start until 1st July 1837.

You will have to rely on a Parish Register baptism.
