Can anyone find John?
« on: Friday 15 November 19 18:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

Hoping someone can help with any information on an elusive ancestor John Dignum who died aged 38 in 1848 Whitechapel.   Not found a marriage for John but have details of 4 children, birth certificates for 3 of them.   Not found him on the 1841 census, so don't know where he was born.

Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Sandra

Perhaps the death certificate will help.

Hi

The children were:-

Charles not found a birth, but born approx, 1842/3.  Married 1866.  Died in 1901

Robert born 1844.  Married 1865.  Died 1915.

Mary who was born and died in 1847.

Ann born 1848 just before John died.  Married 1870.  Died 1907.

Have all the birth, marriage and death certificates for the children other than the birth for Charles.

Mother is Philadelphia Mighall/Miles/Mills.

Hi

Yes we have Philadelphia living with her daughter Ann Carlie/Carley in 1871.  We have her death in 1881.

No marriage to John and no 1841 census entry.

Do you have an occupation for John. Might help find him in 1841.

Hi

His occupation given on Robert and Mary's birth book seller/canvasser.

On Ann's birth and on his death certificate he is a Labourer.
