This lengthy story re a court hearing from 1870 newspaper will give you information about Mary Ann BELLINGER the daughter,  who married  JOHN TAYLOR.

REG 3136
Year1855
BELLINGER Mary Ann
TAYLOR  John

Other family members are mentioned

I think Geo BELLINGER was overseer on Chirnside estate in 1865

Not really helping with the death of Thomas BELLINGER ;D

So it looks like the family didstay around the Chirnside Station (See my previous post)

Hi,

Do you have the actual  inage of her marriage to Robert SAGE,  as it may well record the date of when she became a widow.

RChat's Resources Board for Victoria includes an excellent thread on what to expect on Vic BDM records.   :) and includes noting the date a previous marriage ends due to a spouse's death..

JM

Hi,

From her Vic BDM marriage registration to Robert SAGE is there any info recorded about her previous marriage?  Often the Vic BDM record includes details about a widow ... eg date, no. Of children by that marriage ... I am not sure if that depth of info was sought in 1853,  but I know it is on 1860s Vic BDM marriage images.

Yes, I have a copy of the marriage certificate and as far as I can see it does not even state either of their marital states. Mary was clearly a widow though that isn't stated. There is no indication of Robert's marital condition.

I did e-mail the cemetery as suggested, sadly they have no record of Mary or either of her two husbands,

Is that the left hand side of a double page image perhaps?

I am not sure when Vic BDM marriage registrations. commenced to include very detailed info across two pages,  I have good knowledge on NSW marriage admin 1800s, but Vic was hived off in 1851, so it may have introduced its own legislation by 1853.

Sorry,

JM

I'm not sure. That was the image sent to me by private e-mail some time ago.

According to PROV website, official registrations for Vic BDM commenced 1853, not sure day/month in 1853.  To me, your image may well be only half of the official record for that marriage  (four per double page) but wait until Sue or others reply,  as I am simply not sure if your image is only a part record.

You may need to consider downloading your own copy of the image directly from Vic BDM .... but wait until the others have given you more reliable info.

The document is in a format suggesting a Church Record.
Extra details from the Pioneer index Victoria
Denomination- Church of England
Parish-St James Melbourne
Fiche 976

It may be complete in that reading left to right it makes sense.
However from July 1853, this is what was expected to appear on a marriage certificate.

From July 1853

Date
Couple's names
Couple's ages
Couple's birthplaces
Previous status
Couple's occupations
Couple's residences
Fathers' names
Fathers' occupations
Groom's mothers name
Bride's mothers name

It is a bit tricky as they were married on sixth July 1853 ???

The signature of the clergyman is in my opinion that of Reverend  H B MACARTNEY, dean of Melbourne 1852 to 1894. Hussey Burgh MACARTNEY
