Can anyone identify locations from these photos in 1999?
« on: Thursday 21 November 19 20:36 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather came from the Tralee area of Co Kerry but I don’t know where exactly.
He moved to Wales where he married, had children and died. One of his daughters (my grandmother) was sent back to Ireland at some point for schooling possibly between 1922-32 and did not return until after his death when her mother remarried another Kerry man who appears to have made a deal with my great grandfather to take care of his widow.
The only clues which might point to where my grandmother lived in Ireland are these photos from her trip back in 1999 and a letter from a friend who lived in Ballyduff around 1990.
Can anyone tell me where the location of these photos are? Possibly somewhere around the coast of Kerry but maybe not!
The photo where my grandmother is holding the gate is of her old school which was derelict by that time by the looks of it.

Thank you. I have had help from various people over the last few years and you are right it is Allihies.
The fishing boats I think is Dingle harbour as the long white building in the background still exists and best of all I discovered the school is in Chapeltown which confirms where my grandmother lived. Her family were from Kilfenora near Tralee.
It’s great to know that if I had not managed to find all this out I may still have got answers years later so thanks for your reply.
