There is only one GRO in England and that is at Southport on Merseyside. If you are referring to the local Record Offices try the Genuki site  www.genuki.org.uk  If you look up each individual County it often tells you where the Record Office is. If it doesn't then Google the name of the county and Record Office.

Hello Jack

You will need to be clear as to what you are looking to obtain during your visit.

Registry offices provide copies of birth, marriage and death certificates from 1837 onwards.  Most registry offices are to be found in large towns and cities.  If you visit in person you would usually be required to fill in a form with all the necessary details and pay the relevant fee.  Whether you get the certificate on the same day that you apply will depend on the policy of that particular registry office.

There is usually one Record/Heritage or Archive office in each county.  Although as KGarrad has said there are three in Devon.  These offices will hold a much wider range of documents including those prior to 1837.  Most of these places have online catalogues that you can look at to see what they have.

The General Register Office as mentioned by emeltom covers the whole of England and Wales and they have their own reference system.

The GRO now have an online search facility for births from 1838 to 1918 and deaths from 1837 to 1957 and 1984 to 2019.

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

Where Scotland is concerned a lot of people use the Scotlands People website.  I'm not sure what their date range is for records but no doubt someone will be able to tell you.

Have a great time when you visit Jack and you can always come on Rootschat and ask for assistance.  We are all willing to help a fellow researcher.

GENUKI has information about places in UK and Ireland - location of churches, graveyards, resources, records &c. http://www.genuki.org.uk (volunteer-run)
Irish Toolkit has a list of resources for Ireland + lots of advice. http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com

I suggest that between now and your visit you find out if there are family history societies or local history/heritage groups which cover the area you're interested in. Some may have websites and/or a Facebook page. There are national associations which have lists of local history and FH groups .

Limavady - Coleraine - Londonderry,
Not sure it is G.R.O. that you need since you haven't given any indication of dates.
Civil registration of Births in Ireland started 1864 (also deaths & Catholic marriages), 1845 for non-Catholic marriages including Registry Office ones. Many of the certificates are now online (free) which means you can research possible connections from home before you travel-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
If you are looking for 'recent' vital records for Northern Ireland Counties (births less than 100 years old, marriages less than 75 years or deaths less than 50 years) you can register, purchase credits and view certificates online-  https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/

For all things Scottish...you need to look at the official site Scotlands People which works in conjuction with the GRO for Scotland.

See www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

You can view records up to certain cut offs online. You pay to view in credits you purchase. Costs are very reasonable. You have likely used SP in the past for your research to date. If you able to organise things, you can visit one of the main genealogy centres in Scotland, book a seat in advance, then view as many certs as you can online there for just the cost of the seat hire (currently £15GB). You can go right up to present day doing the searches this way.

Scotlands People have a wealth of help notes and guides to help you.

See here for locations for these centres www.nrscotland.gov.uk/research/local-family-history-centres

What I will add is for the next 18 months do your research as that will save you lots of time.

GENUKI is a great start ( as has already been suggested ) and via that you can research each place you would like to visit, what is there, address etc and what is required... such as a visit to an area records office what you will need so an example https://apps.warwickshire.gov.uk/api/documents/WCCC-863-76

I certainly know that when I visit my local records office I know what they have and who to ask and where to look, but I also know that if and when I travel to another records office or TNA I feel lost and whaat takes 2 hours to find in the local office can and does take all day elsewhere. So know who you are looking for, have a list of what you want/cross reference with the records office catalogue, jot down the reference number of the document as it will save you many wasted hours and read/learn the different registration dates of the different countries, where records are pre certain dates epecially Ireland/Northern Ireland eg some in Dublin some in Belfast

If this post is any indication of the sort of period you are researching them it's probably NOT GRO (Belfast or Dublin) you need but possibly other archives such as PRO (Belfast or Dublin- check their online catalogues), Registry of Deeds, etc.
Looking for anyone who is researching Planters families to Ulster 1610 onwards. I am particularly interested in Shannon of Derry Beg/Limavady/Coleraine in Londonderry and McClure of Raphoe/Convoy/Killynure/Magheranappin/Cloghroe in Donegal.
Or any families that have knowledge of the Planter movement of people from Galloway to Northern Ireland during this period.
Cheers
