Hi i am wondering if anyone might have some info on John Weir Cameron his parents were Archibald Cameron  and Sarah Weir. I have no idea where he was born and it took me the best part of ten years to find his place of death. The only info I have is his marriage certificate his spouse being Jane Hossick of Stevenston Ayrshire. The date being 26 April 1864 in Glasgow. I would be grateful for any help regarding this person. Thanks.

You haven’t given any indication as to his age - do you not have an indication of age, and therefore approximate birthdate, from the marriage and/or death? Where and when was John’s death?

Did the couple stay in Scotland? If so have you looked for them in the censuses?

Hi John Weir Cameron don't know where he was born he was aged 28 on marriage cert. He was a Merchant Seaman. He died in Cleveland Ohio USA in 1881 aged 54. Thanks

He was 28 in 1864 (bn c1836)
He was 54 in 1881 (bn c1827)

Bit of a difference in his approx year of birth

Oddly, an online tree has John Weir Cameron and Jane Hossick or Hosie as the parents of a Janet Reid Cameron born 17 Dec 1882 Saltcoats, Ayrshire - obviously he could not have fathered this child if he died in August 1881.
