Looking for Frances Mary Blundell born 1852
« on: Wednesday 27 November 19 21:28 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for information on my third great-aunt Frances Mary Blundell. Born in Kirkdale in 1852 to Sarah (nee Cooper) and William Blundell and baptised in the same year. I have her in Litherland (census) in 1861 and 1871. I haven't been able to find a marriage or a death. I believe she had a sister Susannah Blundell who died in infancy and a number of half siblings from William's first marriage. TIA.

Do you know what happened to Sarah?

I wonder if she has remarried and Frances is with her under a different name  :-\

Well that's an interesting thought. I have Sarah dying in Bootle in 1888 (William died in 1861) and her and Frances living together in 1871. Sarah was noted as 'widowed' and Frances was 19. I have a tentative finding for Sarah in the 1881 census but my notes say I'm not convinced because i) now she is living in North Meols as a lady's maid (the occupation may not be stretch but the distance from 'home' probably is) and ii) that she is unmarried as opposed to widowed (I think I kept this because there was nothing else for her and of course if she had remarried that would explain it).
Thanks. I'm going to do some research on that possibility. I'm not sure that Frances would necessarily have taken a stepfather's name at her age but then again I have seen some interesting name decisions with others!!! Much appreciated Milliepede.

Mabel Bagshawe it does look like a fit - thank you! Can I ask what 'mmn' means (I'm sure it will be obvious when you tell me!)
Thanks so much everyone! That was a mighty fine and quick piece of work.

Thanks garstonite. I knew it would be obvious when someone told me!
I have Sarah and William marrying in 1850 at St Peters Catholic Chapel, West Derby 5 months after the death of his first wife.
Sarah had one possibly 2 children (father/s unknown) before she married William. Then (from my research) she had Frances and Susannah.

There's a death 1919 in Ormskirk area for a France M Blundell? Is that a likely? - but where could she have been until than? Hmmmm.
I got quite excited when I'd found a marriage in 1899 at St Luke's church in Southport for a Frances Blundell to a George Pickering - but when I checked it out her father was a Nathan Blundell. There do seem to be quite a lot of Frances M Blundell(s) about, now I start looking properly. Someone will find her, never despair.
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)
