Marriage between Boik and Smith
« on: Friday 29 November 19 09:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am having trouble finding a marriage. The marriage is between Olive Blanche Victoria Smith (1889-1955) and Thomas Henry Boik or possibly Lucking (1887-1955).

I believe the marriage was between 1919-1924 however it could have been as early as 1910. I strongly believe it was in Victoria but am open to other options as I can't find anything.

Thomas was married to Florence Isabel Coman (1890-1988) in 1909 (1576/1909) under Thomas Henry Boik Lucking in Victoria. I have not been able to find a divorce record for them either. (so if you stumble across it please let me know :P)

A new set of eyes would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi
yes I am assuming between 1919 and 1924 as they had their first child about 1922.

Olive BOIK's death was registered in Victoria in 1955,  rego no. 7526.  Do you have that image,  if so what info is recorded about that marriage?

Thomas Henry Boik died 1950 , not 1955 :

b 1888 d 1950 Parkville , Victoria

Reg 3098

Florence Isabel Boik married 1950 Edward Frederick John Hansen
Victoria Reg 5704

As Florence waited until 1950 to remarry this might indicate that there was no divorce and therefore
no marriage between Thomas and Olive ?

No I don’t have that certificate was hoping I might not need it but looks like it will be the only way I can find out.

Yes sorry my typing error you are correct it is 1950.

That is very possible that she waited till after he died to remarry.

On the electoral roll it looks like he was known as Lucking and after 1919 he used the name Boik.

It could be possible that he used Boik as he got remarried and wasn’t divorced so he didn’t get caught  ???
