John Thomas Davies
« on: Friday 29 November 19 14:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have recently found out that my Dad was adopted at the age of 2 in 1943 by his mum and my granddad (I think) called Norman Hellier Webber. His mum was Marjorie Comber. On his birth certificate and adoption certificate, his father is named as John Thomas Davies who was married to my granny when he was born (1940) but divorced before 1942. I have alot of history about Webbers but I am trying to find out information about John Thomas Davies so that I can ultimately find out who my granddad was Davies or Webber.

This is the information I have on John Thomas Davies.....

He was Welsh, he was 32 when he was married in 1923 so probably born in 1891/2.
His dad (David John Davies) was dead when he got married and was listed as a 'Clerk to Holy Orders'.
I know he was educated well as he was a schoolmaster at Eton and at St John's school.
I know he was an Officer trainer in 1939/1940.
I know his dad was probably well educated as he was a Clerk.
I know he and my granny had a daughter and I know her name and birth date/marriage/death date.

I don't know exactly when he was born or where (likely to be Wales but not sure).
I don't know who his mother was.
I don't know of any siblings or other relatives.

I don't know what to do or where to look now because I have looked through all the UK census and there are loads of John T Davies with father as David Davies so I can't be sure I have the right one.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do next?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have loads of information about Marjorie.

in 1939  she was at 9-10, Mamhead View, Exmouth, Devon, England.

They all lived around Cornwall and Devon but married and divorced in different places (due to the war).

Thanks

Hi Ciderdrinker,

Wow, thank you!

You are right about John Alban Davies (priest) and a David Alban Davies (witness) at the marriage.

What about John T Davies. Where is he in the census 1891 and 1901? Do you think he was at a boarding school?
Your information all adds up apart from the John T Davies part. How did you find your information? - Very interested to know because I couldn't find it on Myheritage.com.

Thanks!

Hi
A birth certificate might help for the 1940 birth, might give an address or some clue.
I did find something , have sent a pm.

There are some family trees on Ancestry with details (if correct) for John Thomas and Parents, born LLanstadwell, Pembrokeshire.
